Junior and Senior Infants
There are 15 wonderful children in our classroom, 8 in Junior Infants and 7 in Senior Infants. We also have our fantastic Special Needs Assistant, Denise, in our room.
We work really hard in our classroom learning all our letter sounds and new words. We sing lots of songs both in English and Irish and also enjoy learning lots of poems and nursery rhymes. We love reading in our infant room and each day our teacher reads us a chapter of a book. We really like Roald Dahl. We have already read ‘The Magic Finger’ and we are nearly finished ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’.
One of our favourite things is doing Aistear in our room every morning. We learn all about different themes through our play. We have already been learning about homes and space. At the moment we are learning all about Christmas. We take part in role-play where we pretend to be Santa’s elves in the workshop, we use playdough to make different Christmas decorations and we are doing lots of Christmas themed cutting and sticking.
There are lots of budding scientists in our room and we had great fun during Science Week in November. We got to do lots of different science experiments. We made a rainbow using skittles and water, we used frozen water bottles to see if a snowman would last longer with or without a coat and we tested different materials to see which ones were waterproof. We really like making predictions and seeing which ones will be right.
We love doing PE in our class. Since September we have been learning lots of different games that we can play during lunch time. We have also been doing Athletics where we take part in lots of races and practise all the different ways that we can move like jumping, skipping and hopping.
We had great fun doing our Christmas Nativity play in our class. We really enjoyed dressing up in our costumes and singing all of the different songs.
Junior and Senior Infants were very excited on their first day of school this year.
We were delighted to welcome 8 new Junior Infants into Rylane National School yesterday. The 5 boys and 3 girls had a brilliant first day and they have all settled in really well with their Class Teacher, Ms. Lanigan and Class SNA, Denise
Junior and Senior Infants had great fun releasing their butterflies on Friday. They have spent many weeks watching them develop under the guidance of Class Teacher Ms. Lanigan. [gallery size="full"...
